Project Recap: Commercial Paving in Dayton, MN

New entry way into Church parking lot

Project Overview

Minneapolis Apostolic Lutheran Church needed to extend an existing paved roadway to provide improved access through its cemetery. The new pavement connected to the existing roadway before transitioning into a narrower cemetery drive constructed over the existing aggregate base.

The project was planned to create a smooth transition between the existing pavement and the new roadway while working within the layout of the property and the church’s established budget.

Work Completed

  • Site grading
  • Drainage improvements
  • Asphalt paving
  • Cemetery roadway extension
  • Entrance widening
  • Additional driveway entrance

Challenges

After the original project scope and budget had been established, the client requested additional improvements to the cemetery entrance and another driveway connection. The challenge was incorporating this added work without increasing the overall project cost.

By reviewing the roadway dimensions and asphalt quantities, our team identified an opportunity to adjust the cemetery drive while still providing enough room for vehicles to travel safely through the property.

Results

The cemetery drive lane was reduced by one foot, allowing the asphalt material to be reallocated to other areas of the project. This made it possible to widen the connection between the existing roadway and the new cemetery drive while also paving an additional driveway entrance.

The completed project provides paved access through the cemetery, a smoother transition from the existing roadway, and an additional entrance, all while remaining within the client’s original budget.
