Erickson Asphalt & Concrete has been serving Eden Prairie and Hennepin County as a trusted paving contractor for over 35 years. More than 500 verified Google reviews at a 4.8 rating reflect what our work looks like in practice. We understand the glacial soil conditions here, the seasonal timing that works for asphalt in this climate, and what it takes to build pavement that holds up through Minnesota winters.

Eden Prairie is one of the most established suburbs in the southwest metro, and a lot of its driveways and parking lots are showing their age. Surfaces paved during the buildout of neighborhoods around Staring Lake, Round Lake, and the Preserve are now 20 to 40 years old. When cracking has spread across the surface and sealcoating is no longer holding things together, the pavement needs more than maintenance.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Asphalt Services in Eden Prairie

  • Driveway Paving

Eden Prairie has a wide range of driveway ages, from 1970s and 1980s surfaces in the city’s older established areas to newer installations in developments off Dell Road and Eden Prairie Road. When cracking has spread and the surface has started to settle or lose its drainage slope, replacement is the right move. We handle complete driveway tear-outs and installations, with proper grading, base preparation, and compaction. Every residential driveway comes with our industry-leading warranty.

  • Driveway Sealcoating

Sealcoating is the most cost-effective maintenance you can do for your asphalt. It blocks UV damage, keeps water out of cracks, and resists oil and chemical stains. For Eden Prairie driveways, we recommend sealcoating every two to three years to stay ahead of the freeze-thaw damage that Minnesota winters cause. We handle driveway sealcoating and coordinate striping for commercial lots once the sealer has cured.

  • Apron Repair

A sunken apron creates a gap at the garage entrance where water pools and works under the slab. That gap also creates an ice hazard every winter, which matters on Eden Prairie’s many sloped lots near the lakes and creek corridors. We remove the failed section, address the base problem that caused it, and install a proper repair that drains correctly.

  • Commercial Paving

Eden Prairie has significant commercial paving demand across its retail centers, office parks, and industrial properties, from the Eden Prairie Center area to the office corridors along Highway 212 and Valley View Road. We handle parking lot construction, overlays, and full reconstruction, working around your operations to minimize disruption. Our crews have experience with the scale and scheduling demands of commercial sites throughout the southwest metro.

  • Commercial Sealcoating

For property managers and business owners, parking lot sealcoating extends pavement life and improves appearance at a fraction of replacement cost. We phase larger projects to maintain access for tenants and customers, and we coordinate striping after the sealer cures. Eden Prairie’s high-traffic commercial lots benefit from a maintenance schedule that protects the asphalt investment.

  • Asphalt Repair

Potholes and alligator cracking get worse with every freeze-thaw cycle, and Eden Prairie sees plenty of those each winter. Our infrared patching process creates seamless repairs by heating the existing asphalt and blending in new material. For larger problem areas, we offer mill-and-patch and section replacement that addresses the failure rather than just covering it.

Why Base Work Matters in Eden Prairie

Eden Prairie’s soils are typical of the southwest metro, with glacial deposits that vary by location. Areas near Staring Lake, Round Lake, and the Minnesota River corridor tend toward heavier clay, while neighborhoods on higher ground near Flying Cloud Airport can have sandier, better-draining soil. Clay holds water, expands when it freezes, and contracts when it dries out. That movement is what causes pavement to crack and settle, and it starts below the surface.

Proper base preparation means excavating to stable soil, compacting thoroughly, and building the right gravel depth before asphalt goes down. Skip that step, and good asphalt still fails in a few seasons. We do not skip it.

Permits and Regulations

Eden Prairie does not require a permit to install or replace a driveway unless a new curb cut is being created, in which case a Right-of-Way permit is required from the City. Per the City’s driveway and zoning rules, residential R1 driveways must be asphalt, concrete, or permeable pavers, set at least 3 feet from the side lot line, with a maximum width of 30 feet at the curb. Any work in the public right-of-way is processed in about five business days, and if a pedestrian curb is altered, the curb ramp must be restored to ADA standards. For new construction, you submit a site plan to the City’s building permits division. We determine what is needed for your specific project and handle the coordination as part of our project management.

Areas We Serve

We work throughout Eden Prairie, including established neighborhoods near Staring Lake, Round Lake, and Bryant Lake, residential areas along Pioneer Trail, Mitchell Road, and Dell Road, and commercial properties along Highway 212, Prairie Center Drive, and Valley View Road. From older subdivisions in the city’s core to newer developments on the south and west sides, we handle paving projects of all sizes.
