Erickson Asphalt has been paving driveways and maintaining parking lots across Elk River for over 35 years. We know this city from the historic downtown along Main Street to the newer developments stretching toward Otsego and Zimmerman.
Elk River has grown substantially over the past two decades, and the properties we work on reflect that growth. Established neighborhoods near downtown and the Elk River itself have driveways that were paved when the area was still largely rural. Newer subdivisions in the outlying areas need first-time paving and maintenance. Commercial development along Highway 10 and Main Street requires parking lots that can handle heavy traffic.
Whether you need a driveway replacement near Handke Pit Park, sealcoating for a home off Orono Parkway, or commercial paving for a business along Highway 10, we handle it.

What Our Customers Are Saying
Asphalt Services in Elk River
Driveway Paving
Every driveway eventually needs replacement. When cracks spread and settling becomes visible, it is time for a new installation. We handle complete tear-outs with proper grading, base preparation, and compaction. Every residential driveway comes with our industry-leading warranty.
Driveway Sealcoating
Sealcoating is the most cost-effective maintenance for asphalt. It blocks UV damage, prevents water infiltration, and resists oil stains. For Elk River driveways, we recommend sealing every two to three years to maximize pavement life.
Apron Repair
A sunken apron causes water to pool at your garage entrance, accelerating damage to your foundation and driveway. Our apron repair service addresses the base failure and installs a proper fix.
Commercial Paving
Elk River has significant commercial development along Highway 10 and Main Street. We handle parking lot construction, overlays, and full reconstruction for retail centers, restaurants, and industrial properties. Our crews work around your operations to keep business moving.
Commercial Sealcoating
Parking lot sealcoating extends pavement life and improves appearance at a fraction of replacement cost. We phase larger projects to maintain access and coordinate striping after the sealer cures.
Asphalt Repair
Potholes and alligator cracking get worse every freeze-thaw cycle. Our infrared patching creates seamless repairs by heating existing asphalt and blending in new material. For larger damaged areas, we offer mill-and-patch and section replacement.

What You Should Know About Paving in Elk River
River Valley Soils
Elk River sits at the confluence of the Elk and Mississippi Rivers, with soil conditions that vary across the city. Properties near the rivers tend to have sandier, alluvial soils that drain well. Areas away from the water may have more clay and glacial till, which holds water and contributes to frost heave. We assess conditions on every project because they directly affect what your pavement needs.
Permit Requirements
Elk River requires permits for various construction activities. The city specifies that approved driveway surfaces include asphalt, concrete, class 5 gravel, crushed rock, or equivalent materials. For new driveways or significant modifications, contact the City of Elk River Fire & Building Safety Division. If your driveway connects to a county road, you may need an additional permit from Sherburne County. Routine sealcoating does not require a permit. We handle permit coordination as part of our project management.
Neighborhoods We Serve
We work throughout Elk River, including neighborhoods near Handke Pit Park and the Elk River itself, the established areas around downtown and Main Street, residential developments off Orono Parkway and School Street, and commercial properties along Highway 10 and Jackson Avenue.
Our Recent Projects in Elk River
Ridgewood Manor
We did a 2″ asphalt overlay for Ridgewood Manor, a large apartment complex in Elk River, MN managed by INH Property Management. The 92,000-square-foot parking lot serves the entire community, and we installed 1,200 tons of fresh asphalt across two days of paving.
Because this is a residential complex, we phased the work to maintain constant access for tenants. Prep included milling transitions in front of garage entrances for a smooth grade and addressing minor drainage concerns. Despite a few rain delays, the full project wrapped in just four days.
