Southview Acres Health Care Center is a long-standing rehabilitation and long-term care provider in St. Paul. When they needed to bring key areas of their property up to current ADA standards, they partnered with Erickson Asphalt & Concrete to complete the project with minimal disruption to their daily operations.
We recently completed a multi-phase project to improve ADA compliance throughout the Southview Acres property. The existing concrete entryway and sidewalk areas no longer met ADA guidelines, which require a slope of less than 2% in all directions to ensure safe and accessible movement for patients, visitors, and staff. On Monday, our concrete crew removed the concrete and poured 16.25 yards of new concrete, carefully formed and graded to meet ADA standards.
Later that week, we planned to return and address the ADA parking stalls. However, weather conditions forced us to reschedule the paving to the following Monday. That morning, our team performed light profile milling to create a smooth transition from the existing pavement to the new surface. We installed 150 tons of hot mix asphalt in the afternoon, restoring the surface with proper slope and drainage. Our striping crew followed that evening, laying out fresh markings—including properly sized ADA stalls and compliant signage placement.
The final phase took place Tuesday morning, when we installed new curb stops to enhance safety and traffic control within the lot.
