At Erickson Asphalt, we recently completed a project for RPM Inc. in Savage, MN. RPM Inc. manufactures surface protection products for homes, pets, garages and much more. Their parking lot had reached the end of its lifespan. We approached this project with the same dedication and precision that has defined our work for over 35 years in the Minneapolis metro area.
We began by removing the existing asphalt, hauling it off for recycling. This step ensured an environmentally friendly start to the project. The base was in good condition, but we took the extra step to regrade parts of the limestone base. This adjustment was crucial for enhancing water runoff and preventing future issues.
While on site, we hydro-vacuumed all the catch basins to ensure proper water flow. This meticulous attention to detail is part of what sets us apart. By ensuring the catch basins were clean and functional, we aimed to prevent any potential drainage problems.
The parking lot itself covered a little over 18,500 square feet and required 331 tons of hot mix asphalt. The ramps next to the docks presented a unique challenge. Rolling these areas required precision and some handwork to ensure a seamless transition. Additionally, the loading dock area needed thicker asphalt to withstand the heavy loads it regularly endures.
Once the paving was complete, we moved on to striping the parking lot. This final touch provided clear, well-defined markings, enhancing both the functionality and appearance of the lot. The result was a smooth, durable, and well-marked surface that perfectly met RPM Inc.'s needs.
Working on this project allowed us to demonstrate our comprehensive skill set and our commitment to high-quality results. At Erickson Asphalt, we take pride in our ability to handle projects of all sizes with the same level of dedication and expertise.
