Erickson Asphalt Completes Major Repaving Project at Pine Village in Cambridge, MN

Erickson Asphalt recently completed a comprehensive repaving project for Pine Village, a manufactured home community in Cambridge, MN. This large-scale project involved repaving 150 driveways and over 30,000 square yards of streets, requiring the placement of 5,025 tons of asphalt. The project was crucial for improving the community's infrastructure ensuring safer and more reliable roads for its residents.

Despite facing two weeks of continuous rain that caused delays, our team worked diligently to complete the project efficiently. To overcome the weather challenges, we adjusted schedules, mobilized additional resources, and stayed flexible with work plans to keep the project on track. Here's a breakdown of how we tackled this project:

Driveway Overlay

The project began with preparing the 150 driveways for an asphalt overlay. In just three days, we prepared and paved all driveways, working in tight quarters due to the many carports throughout the community. Careful coordination and precision ensured a smooth process and high-quality results.

Street Repaving

Next, we addressed the streets. We began by milling 1.5 inches of existing asphalt. During the process, we identified sections with significant issues, such as thin asphalt layers and drainage problems. These areas underwent full-depth pavement and base removal to ensure a stable foundation for the new asphalt. Once the streets were prepared, we layed 3-inches of asphalt and compacted it. The park owner chose this approach to provide long-lasting roads, as they expressed a desire not to repave the streets again in their lifetime.

Minimizing Disruption

With hundreds of homeowners affected by this project, managing parking logistics and maintaining access to homes were critical priorities. We worked closely with park management and owners to develop a detailed plan that minimized disruption. This included clear communication with residents, phased work schedules, and ensuring temporary parking solutions were available. Our proactive collaboration helped ensure residents could continue their daily routines with minimal inconvenience.

We greatly appreciate the patience and cooperation of the Pine Village management team and residents throughout the project. Their support allowed us to deliver a successful outcome for the community. The new driveways and streets enhance the neighborhood’s appearance and provide a safer, more durable surface for years to come.
