Asphalt is a great choice for paving projects due to its strength and durability. However, over time, asphalt can become worn out and fade due to the natural oxidation process of the bitumen. This can leave your pavement looking dull and can cause cracking.
Thankfully, driveway sealcoating can help keep your pavement looking new and increase its lifespan. Sealcoating is a protective layer applied to asphalt surfaces to help preserve the bitumen and seal out moisture, dirt, and other debris. This helps protect the asphalt from the elements and slows down the oxidation process of the bitumen.
Sealcoating also helps improve the overall appearance of your pavement. It can help restore the dark black color of the asphalt and make it look new again. It also helps protect against oil and gas spills.
We understand that driveway sealcoating is an investment. That’s why we strive to provide the best customer service and the highest quality final product. We are committed to helping you get the most out of your pavement and ensuring it looks great for years to come.
For over three decades, we've been delivering our sealcoating services and have heard a lot of questions. So, here's a compilation of the most common ones. If your query isn't answered here, please contact us; we would be more than happy to provide assistance.
Sealcoating typically takes 4-8 hours to dry, but it is recommended to wait at least 24 hours before driving on it. Factors such as temperature, relative humidity, and direct sunlight can affect the drying time.
Sealing your driveway every three years is recommended, but depending on the weather and traffic conditions, you may need to seal coat more frequently.
Sand is added to sealcoating to provide greater traction and a uniform surface texture for improved safety and performance.
The best time of year to apply sealcoating is between May and September, when the temperature is at least 55 degrees overnight.
Sealcoating can fill hairline cracks, but nothing large than that. For larger cracks, we will apply a hot rubber crack sealer. Sealcoating and crack sealer will not make the cracks disappear, but it will help protect them from getting worse.
At Erickson Asphalt Services, we consistently go above and beyond to meet our customers’ expectations, and we will do the same for you. Get in touch with us today, and your driveway will be thanking you soon!
